Modern Argentinean Gallery
This army is probably my most obscure Modern army. Scotia released a range of Argentinean vehicles based on the TAM chassis and those form the basis of this army. The rest of the vehicles used by
the Argentinean army are readily available from the usual 6mm manufacturers apart from some of the self propelled artillery.
I don't have a lot of knowledge with regards to the Argentinean and their most famous recent conflict in the Falkland (Los Malvinas) Islands was with mostly Marines and Conscript Infantry. This force
is based on the Cavalry Brigades which are the main Armoured formations in the army. Most of the armour is pretty light but their likely South
American opponents would also have lightly armoured forces.
Painting information
Before painting I added some stowage to the vehicles using a mix of H&R and GHQ pieces with the odd blob of greenstuff. H&R also make a range of M113 and M60
roadwheels and they were added onto the M113s, AMX-13/75 and Kurassier vehicles. Then these vehicles were given a base colour of US Deck Tan using a Tamiya spray can. The sandy base colour was highlighted in about 3 layers using Vallejo Cork Brown and Desert
Yellow (mixed together), and progressively lightened with Iraqi Dark sand and lightly drybrushed with a Vallejo Ivory colour. The green was a GW colour of Lorien Forest followed by a lighter coat of GW Straken Green. Details such as stowage was painted Vallejo Brown violet
and highlighted with khaki. The tracks were painted dark brown and the roadwheels given a brown wash. Other details such as tools were picked out with a dark grey and tailights were painted red (the lights are
probably over scaled but the effect is good). The tires on the wheeled vehicles were painted a blue-black colour (Tamiya Dark Sea blue) and windscreens light blue highlighted with white. Finally the
vehicles were given a black pin wash.
