Doctor Ernesto Furtwangler

Dr Ernesto Furtwangler

For my Colonial Games using TSATF I like to have a few ‘personality’ figures to add to the games or campaigns over and above the standard units and commanders. An Austro-Hispanic Missionary & Doctor who has done charitable work in Khartoum and Kordofan and is well travelled (South America, India, China). Dr Furtwangler has travelled much of the world doing his missionary work for various Catholic Churches & Societies, and has learned several dialects.

TSATF Games: The Doctor does not carry a firearm, so is unarmed, but is very adroit with his cane & umbrella, so counts as:

  • Shooting: Unarmed so may not shoot.
  • Close Combat: he however fights in melee as a normal British / Indian soldier (he’s a dab hand with his cane).
  • Counts as normal British Morale in TSATF, as he’s almost recklessly brave for an unarmed missionary!
(or as a European Veteran in TSNS with D20 Morale).

Campaigns: Improves recovery of Wounded when assisting an existing Hospital Corps detachment or similar. Also may know uncommon Southern Sudanese or Kordofani dialects (as well as knowing German, Spanish, Hindi, and some Cantonese, amongst others). For the Revolt in the Sudan / Fire & Sword Campaign(s) his benefit is:

  • Reduced chance of wounded figures DOW after a battle & an increased chance of them recovering to be fit for duty:
+1 to the recovery die roll for each wounded figure in the force he accompanies when doing post-battle casualty rolls.

Experience: Doctor Ernesto Furtwangler has been present at the following actions:

Note: I work on my figure scale in TSATF representing the equivalent of 10 real soldiers if British / Imperial forces, and 20 real warriors / tribesmen if Native Armies; so my characters (which are 1 figure representing 1 or perhaps 2 real people) tend to have only 1 subtle added ‘bonus’ ability, since they are already effectively 5 to 10 times more powerful due to the figure having the base same ability as one representing 10 or more real soldiers.
