Jake Collins’ Modern Spearhead Resources

Modern Spearhead MegaGame Wellington 2005 John Moher

Some may know of Jake, he was a member of the group of New Zealand players based in Wellington who helped play-test Modern Spearhead back in the late 1990’s, and who then hosted numerous ‘mega-games’ of Spearhead and Modern Spearhead through 1997 to around 2010. He was/is well informed on modern military related matters. Jake compiled the following lists of optional and unofficial MSH TO&Es and data cards (and other information) on his website that is no longer available.

UK Territorial Army Brigade is from Rhys Batchelor. The South Koreans, US Special Forces, US Combat Engineer Battalion and the Cuban lists come from Randy Howk. The USMC and Royal Marines lists come from Austin Smith.

Jake also recommended Nowfel Leulliot for excellent ultra-modern French TO&Es. For excellent information on the Indian Army try Bharat Rakshak and for general orbat information of all kinds he recommend Orbat.info. He also pointed out David Manley has done some excellent historical TO&Es for South Africa and the war in Angola. Note: Some of these sites no longer exist so I cannot provide a valid link, or in a couple of cases Jake had listed contact email addresses which I have removed for privacy reasons.

Note that we approved of Jake’s Data Cards being published publicly at the time despite them partially reproducing some content drawn directly from the copyrighted Modern Spearhead material – as this expanded the available data for MSH gamers. However please remember when using these resources that no part of Modern Spearhead rules, TO&Es or Data Cards should otherwise be reproduced publicly in any form – so please do not republish this material elsewhere as it is for MSH gamers’ own personal use; nor reproduce any part of the official MSH rules as these are protected by Copyright.

All files are are in PDF to allow easy download and printing.

With regard to the items not yet available, I am slowly reformatting these and will eventually get all Jake’s content back up over the next couple of years – all going well. It is taking longer than originally expected as the source material is webpages which need a lot of cleaning up as Jake’s old webhost inserted a lot of redundant code in them. If you are after something specific that is not yet up here then either leave a comment, or post n the Spearhead and Modern Spearhead Facebook Group, and I will endeavour to do that item next.
